Bendex.Shop Editor - Boxes

Bendex.Shop Editor - Boxes

Overview

This page is about creating an adjusting Boxes in Bendex.

Here you should learn about:

  • The differences of boxes and profiles

  • How to create boxes

  • How to adjust boxes

To create a box, simply select “New →New Box” in the editor, and it creates a new, flat, rectangular sheet acting as the new base for your box.

To change the measurements of this base or any other flange, you have to right click it.

With a left click, you simply select a flange, making yellow arrows in every edge appear. Clicking on this arrows allows you to attach a new flank to the selected flange.

Since boxes are much more complex than simple profiles, some tools are not available in the box editor. This includes the tools for conical part, and miter cuts.

Holes can be placed like usual, but notches have also be created on the flanges itself, and not with the notches tool.

Bendex offers you many different flanges as templates, but technically they are all the same: They are all one or multiple flanges with different parameters.

Technically, every single one of these templates can be created by hand, using only the basic extension and adjust the parameters a bit.

Still, for usability reasons, there are some specific parameters only visible for the according template.

E.g. to use a trapeze form, you need the trapeze template, and to change the radius of the bending, you need the corresponding radius template.

Since every flange, side or edge can be defined in detail, and also the bending lines and radius have to be taken into account, it may take some time and practice to adjust a box to be just as desired.

But still, step by step, it’s possible to create even complex boxes with the box editor, as long as they consist of only one sheet.

Polygonal Boxes

Polygonal boxes are basicly the same as normal boxes. The only difference is the base: It’s not some rectangular but a polygon. The polygon designer allows you to create the polygonal base, by placing the different corners of the polygon. After that, simply confirm the form, and the editor changes back to the already known box editor, with this polygon as it’s base, allowing you to attach additional flanges as usual on every edge.
