Bendex.shop - Shopping Cart
Overview
This page is about the general use of the shopping cart.
Here you should learn about:
The core functions of the shopping cart
How to generate offers and orders
How to access and read the post calculation
The shopping cart is the collection of all added items, and provides a small summary of the most important attributes of the items, like the measurements, quantity, used material, price per unit and total price.
It also includes some additional items for packing and shipping cost, depending on what delivery method has been chosen for now.
It’s also the easiest place to change the quantity of the selected items, or to rename your custom items like profile and boxes, to make them distinguishable from each other.
Also, the shopping cart provides access to some tools to edit the shopping cart and the items in it.
The most simple (but still important one) is the Load in Editor function: This loads an item from the shopping cart back to the editor, and allows to view it in detail again, or do some changes to it.
Be aware that the editor and the shopping cart are not directly linked: To get the changes in the editor back to the shopping cart, you either have to “replace profile”, and replace the currently selected profile in the shopping cart with the one in the editor, or add the profile as a new item to the cart.
Also, be aware that the “Replace Profile” function is only about the form of the profile itself, including holes, notches, etc. Changes in length or material are NOT replaced!
As seen in the image above, it’s also possible to replace the material of one or all available items with the material and coating currently selected in the editor. If some items (usually articles with fixed materials) aren’t able to select the chosen material, you will be informed in a separated pop-up window.
Quick Edit
Another way to change the properties of items in the shopping cart, is the quick edit:
Here you are able to adjust the name, comments, material, length and quantity, or clone items in the shopping cart.
Under “Properties” you are also able to change the parameters of articles or templates, if available.
Post Calculation
The post calculation is a powerful tool for administrators to overview the calculated costs, the calculated price and therefore the calculated marge of each item, and the shopping cart as a whole.
The production times table includes the needed time for preparation, stock control, cutting, punching, bending, packing and other tasks.
These times are then also used to calculate the labor cost under “production costs”, and together with the material and other costs result in the total cost affecting the marge.
The price calculation in both directions, buy price (or production costs) as well as sell price, are very sensitiv in setup in Bendex.Management. Only if the information about labor cost, buy price, material price and so on, is correctly stated in Bendex.Managment, Bendex.Shop will be able to calculate the production cost (and therefore the marge) correctly.
Not only is there an calculated overview about the production times and production costs available, it’s also possible to adjust the final price of every item to change the total sell price, or to offer some special discounts for the customer.
The Post Calculation allows you to change the price of each position or the whole shopping cart at once:
You can either set a discount in %, or change the price itself: No matter what value you are changing, the other value get’s recalculated instantly, showing the new price, used discount and new net margin too.
There is a small difference between setting the discount for all items, and setting a special discount for the whole order:
In the first case, the discount is calculated on the item. Therefore it usually won’t show up in the report itself, since the report only shows the discounted prices, instead of the original price and the discount.
In the second case, the discount is set in the order. Therefore all items will be calculated at full price, and only the total amount get’s reduced. In this case, you usually should add the “Special Discount” and the “Total Without Special Discount” fields in the report, to keep the price calculation reproducible, and prevent confusion.
Creating Orders and Offers
To create a order or an offer, simply click on the corresponding buttons on the top end of the shopping cart. In both cases, the final form opens, allowing you to recheck the items and in the cart, and also asks you to provide additional information about the order or offer, like the subject of the order, the project (if available), delivery method, and so on.
If a delivery is selected, you are also able to recheck the delivery address taken from the costumer information, or simply change it for this order in particular.
Be aware that prices could have changed. This doesn’t only include the delivery cost, depending on the selected delivery method, but also changes in the items prices.
As soon as the Order (or Offer) is generated, it will also be saved in the corresponding folder on the left side, allowing the customer to track the order, as well as to generate different reports he has access to. Depending on the user privileges and the current status of the order, it’s also possible to change the order, or cancel it completly.
Managing Orders and Offers in Shop
In der Order View, the user can inspect all the current visible offers, orders and saved shopping carts, linked to the currently active customer. Depending on the status and the user privileges the customer is not only able to view the orders or offers, but also change or chancel them, as well as generating and viewing some reports.
What a customer can do and what he can’t to depends mostly on the rights of the user role, and of the status. The user role itself usually defines what kind of reports the customer is able to generate and to see, as well as what he can do with this objects in general, and depending on the status, the customer may be able to edit or cancel the offer on his own or may not even be able to see the offer or order at all.
Exporting and importing shopping carts.
Bendex.Shop allows you to export shopping carts directly, or from an existing order.
This export contains all items in the cart, including custom items and the material information.
If the export is made from an order, this also includes data like the order number, customer reference, order subject, and so on.
After importing the cart, you will see an overview of all items going to be imported, and are able to check and change the materials as well.
